On that one weird poll
After being repeatedly chastised for not soliciting neighborhood input, The HKF rep hung out in the park to try to drum up support, and survey the park users. However, he was only there during daylight hours when most park users are at work, and he used classic push-polling techniques. Neighbors who he spoke to have told us, both in person and in Nextdoor posts, that he didn't even mention the dojo and just spoke about park improvements like brush clearing or wildlife control, and told people that all their neighbors support the project.
The result was a list with a handful of names with the HKF's interpretation of their responses. There are more people in the park on a typical Tuesday evening than appeared on his "whole week" list.
The HKF rep has repeatedly quoted this "poll" to try to argue that the neighborhood supports the project. But, a substantial independent poll of the neighborhood conducted by our City Councilman shows that 78% of the nearby residents oppose it. The HKF rep has continued to refer to their own survey even after the the City Council poll came out.
Ironically, the dojo will only be operating during hours when he wasn't in the park.
